Never before have I felt so sad about the future of our country. We are at a crossroads where we can take this country and make it "greater", not just "great again", or we can take the other fork and watch its steady decline into oblivion. Great civilizations have come and gone, everyone remembers the Egyptians, the Mayans, the Aztec, the Romans, and the Greeks. The list is quite large, and there is only us to stop America from joining that list.
We squandered an opportunity to unite this country by bringing two individuals to the general election that are so damaged that they can only take us down one road, the road we don't want to tread. We let divisions and difficulties breed fear to the point that one candidate harnessed it to an improbable nomination, and we let the other party limit our choices thereby resigning us to the Devil we know.
Where do we go from here? If it was up to me I would have a do over. Tell the parties to go back to their chambers and pick someone that can unify this country that is so divided right now. Between the rise of ISIS and Islamic extremism, to the in country issues we have with Racism and Xenophobia we have to have a do over. One candidate feeds off this anger and hatred, while the other is mistrustful and will therefore be ineffective.
Who has a time machine to turn back the clocks one year? One year is all we need.
